tim-marsano-cropedAs you can imagine, I kept fit and active during my 30 years of military service. Since retiring, nothing has changed. I consider exercise of one sort or another to be an important part of each day for both physical and mental sharpness. You can imagine how concerned I was when I got injured skiing in Sun Valley. I’ve watched friend’s lives change dramatically after being injured and that just isn’t the lifestyle for me.

Fortunately, I was referred to Sawtooth Orthopedics. The clinic is very well run with a great staff!  Dr. Tony is a straight shooter who tells it like it is. Even after the surgery Dr. Tony is there to make sure that the I get the results I want. He’s a great motivator to stay on course with rehab.  His insistence that I rehab properly, with the outstanding assistance of PT John Koth, is part of the reason I’m able to do the things I love, and could do those things within mere months of my ACL surgery. John is a great motivator who understands that the needs of each patient are different; he adjusts accordingly, with very positive results.

I thought I was going to have to cancel my trip.

Thanks to all the staff, I was able to set off on a 10,000-mile RV road trip within a few months of my surgery. I saw the sights in 22 states and parts of Canada.  I did a great deal of mountain biking and cruiser biking to get off the highway and really took in the landscape.  Without my successful surgery, post-op care and rehab, traveling on my American journey in this way this would have been impossible.  My sincere thanks go out to Dr Tony, the Sawtooth Orthopedics staff and PT John Koth.

My recommendation to anyone having major reconstructive surgery is to find a great doctor and physical therapist and do what they say! For me it was easy to stay focused. Like I said, I’m motivated to stay at my physical and mental best because it’s important for me to be able to enjoy doing the things I love each day.  Some days it may be just walking around the neighborhood, other days it’s walking for 18 holes of golf or maybe a game of tennis with a friend.  One needs to be in good condition to do any of those things, both mentally and physically.

Do something physical every day,

Tim Marsano
